Students gain business insights at American Outdoor Brands

Business Freshman Interest Group students on a site visit at American Outdoor Brands.

The Business FIG took their second company site visit to American Outdoor Brands. Andy Fulmer, the company representative, hosted the students for the day and shared his insights and experience working at the company.

FIG students learned about the fundamentals of American Outdoor Brands.

The FIG students learned about the inner workings of a company and got real-world perspectives on the industry. These business students were able to connect with professionals working in all aspects of the business process, including Marketing, HR, Finance, Operations, Customer Service, Sales, Supply Chain, Logistics, etc. The students learned about the four different products that American Outdoor Brands sells and what the in-person and digital marketing process looks like.

The students were given a tour of the American Outdoor Brands facility.

Emily Stockamp is part of the Business FIG and was present on this trip. She felt that the trip was a good way to be more immersed in the culture of a business.

“It was a really cool experience getting to hear about how they absorbed and created different companies,” Stockamp said.

Mackenzie Thompson, another Business FIG member, was also in attendance and felt the things she took away from her visit were valuable and aligned well with the FIG and her future career goals.

“Our FIG is a global business FIG, and they talked about how they import and export, and also about operations and how to build a company, which was very interesting for me because I want to start my own business one day,” Thompson said.
