Spotlight on Excellence

In her award nomination for Nathan, Hedges said:

“I enthusiastically submit my nomination for PLA Nathan Reed. Nathan has been nothing but phenomenal this semester. Despite having to change co-facs right before the start of the semester, he was eager from the get-go and everything was well-planned out before I transitioned in. His attention to detail in his presentations and welcoming demeanor has made it very easy for students to approach him with any questions. As a sophomore, he had already completed a Finance internship which allowed him to provide crucial insight into the benefits of gaining skillsets early on and often.

“Nathan has not only provided fantastic content, but he also came up with an exit ticket system. The system utilizes a QR code at the end of each class session to detail one key takeaway or concept learned during the session which helps students process and retain information they learned and can help foster personal growth. I have been very impressed by the depth of the curriculum and impactful assignments such as having students build out their LinkedIn profiles and creating an elevator pitch and resume.

“Additionally, he has coordinated several speakers including the Involvement Ambassadors, The Learning Center, Undergraduate Research, and Study Abroad. This has allowed students to connect with valuable resources across campus to provide them with academic support as well as career development opportunities. It is evident that he is teaching these students important professional and academic competencies and ways to clearly identify interests and meaningful careers. Nathan is a most deserving candidate for this award.”
